AOA Paraoptometric Certification

The American Optometric Association's Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC) offers a national paraoptometric certification program. Professional certification provides an opportunity to prove your skills and knowledge, as well as provide credentials for career advancement.

There are three levels of certification:

• Certified Paraoptometric (CPO)
• Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA)
• Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT)

The CPO and CPOA certification levels require a written examination. The CPOT level requires a written and a practical examination. Other requirements apply as well.
